The 1983 Environmentally Significant Areas of the Essex Region was a background report to the first Essex Region Conservation Plan.  This report presented an inventory and assessment of the most important natural biological communities remaining in Essex County at the time.  It represented the first large-scale effort to document the natural heritage of the region.
