The Essex Region Source Protection Committee was created Under Ontario Regulation 288/07, Clean Water Act, 2006 to develop a Source Protection Plan to protect drinking water sources in the Essex Region. The SPC evaluates the implementation of the Source Protection Plan and oversees amendments to the Assessment Report, Source Protection Plan. The SPC is made up of members in three sectors: municipal, economic and other interests
At this time, we have several openings on the SPC. We are seeking two members for the other interests sector and three members for the economic sector. Some examples could include representation from agriculture, the fuel industry, health, environment, academics, landowners and public at large. There is a commitment to participate in 3-4 meetings per year for up to five years, with a possibility of extension. The minimum term of commitment is 1 year. Representatives must reside, own or rent property, be employed, or operate a business in the Essex Region Source Protection Area.
