The Essex Region Source Protection Committee was created Under Ontario Regulation 288/07, Clean Water Act, 2006 to develop a Source Protection Plan to protect drinking water sources in the Essex Region. The SPC evaluates the implementation of the Source Protection Plan and oversees amendments to the Assessment Report, Source Protection Plan. The SPC is made up of members in three sectors: municipal, economic and other interests
At this time, we are seeking a new representative for the Economic Sector, specifically a member representing in the interests of Agriculture. This sector of the SPC typically includes individuals who represent sectors or industries most affected by policies in the Source Protection Plan. The Member should actively farm in the Essex Region and be active in one or more regional agricultural associations (e.g. ESCIA, OFA, Grain Farmers, etc.). There is a commitment to participate in 3-4 meetings per year for up to five years, with a possibility of extension. The minimum term of commitment is 1 year. Representatives must reside, own or rent property, be employed, or operate a business in the Essex Region Source Protection Area.
