Essex – June is ‘Bike Month’ in Windsor-Essex, and to celebrate, Essex Region Conservation Foundation is excited to announce a new format for the Essex Region Conservation Bike Tour.
“While the tour will continue to feature a variety of routes for every age and ability, this year, all routes will start and end at the gorgeous Mettawas Lakefront Park in Kingsville,” explains Charlotte Loaring, Foundation member and cycling enthusiast. “By changing the format, we will be able to create a more festival-like, celebratory atmosphere for the hundreds of guests who will participate.”
This year’s event will be held on Saturday, September 29th. Five different routes will be offered, catering to all skill levels. Road routes will range from approximately 60km – 110km, while Greenway riders can choose from a 15km, 32km or 60km trail experience. Riders will be able to take in all the final sights of summer, touring either by road or trail. The tour will conclude with a lakefront festival offering local food and entertainment.
“We want to showcase the beautiful connected trail systems that we’ve created across the region through the Chrysler Canada and Cypher Systems Group Greenways,” Loaring adds. “As well, road rides will include stops at some of our wonderful conservation areas. We encourage all participants to consider supporting more trail connections in our region through gaining pledges.”
