South Coast Adventure Race – Call for Volunteers
The South Coast Adventure Race is a multi-sport adventure race that takes place in several municipalities in the Windsor-Essex region, starting at the Holiday Beach Conservation Area.
Making an adventure race happen is a big undertaking that requires many hands. We greatly appreciate anyone who’s able to offer their support before or during the race. If you’d like more information about volunteer assignments, contact Peter at 519-776-5209 ext 367 or via email email@example.com.
We have a number of volunteer positions available. Below is a brief summary of each position. Time commitments vary, but please indicate your availability during the registration process.
Pre-race Administration: Assist in finalizing racer data and packing swag bags. This position will happen on the Wednesday before the race (June 13). The volunteer shift will be approximately 3-4 hours during the day.
Pre-race Registration: Assist in checking racers in on the day before the race (Friday, June 15). This position will require volunteers to attend the Essex Civic Centre and will help with checking gear and ensuring racer information is accurate.
Checkpoint/Transition Area/Marshalling Point Volunteers: These positions are in the heart of the action. Volunteers will be on the race course to help punch racer’s passports, assist in marshalling them across certain roads/intersections, as well as ensure the transition areas are running smoothly as racers get off bikes and move to another discipline. These positions will be required throughout the day of June 16 and there is potential for volunteers to attend more than one location is their availability permits.
Finish Line Volunteers: Assist in tracking racers as they go through the course, congratulate racers and hand out medals as they cross the finish line, or help with serving beverages after the race (Smart Serve required). This position will help make the post-race bash fun for all involved!
Post Race Clean Up Crew: Help put SCAR2018 to bed! Volunteers will assist with clean-up of the post race bash site after participants have gone home.
