Essex Region Conservation Bike Tour – Call for Volunteers
Essex Region – The Essex Region Conservation Bike Tour, a multi route cycling event incorporates the wandering roads of Windsor-Essex County, and our wonderful Greenway trail system. Upwards of 500 cyclists are expected to come out for a great day on the bike while raising funds for our local trail systems.
An event of this size is a large undertaking and requires many hands. We greatly appreciate anyone who is able to offer their support before, during, or after the tour. If you are a student looking to fill your volunteer hours, get behind the scenes event planning experience, or are looking to give back to your community, this is a great opportunity to do so!
We have a number of volunteer positions available. Below is a brief summary of each position. Time commitments vary, but please indicate your availability during the registration process. We are looking for approximately 20 volunteers to assist with a variety of roles.
Pre-Race Volunteer: Assist with pre event set up, as well as aid in erecting route signage.
Registration: Aid with registration and fee collection. This shift will happen in the morning prior to cyclists departing on their routes. Registration volunteers will also assist at our parking locations near Mettawas Park.
Route Greeters: You will be located at each route’s turnaround point, greeting the riders, and providing snacks and refreshments. We have five separate turnaround routes, located in LaSalle, McGregor, Essex, Amherstburg, and Harrow.
Route Marshal: Must have the ability to drive your own vehicle. The Route Marshall will patrol and drive the routes as cyclists reach their turnaround points.
Greenway Cyclist Sweeper: Travelling by bike, the cyclist sweeper will patrol the Greenway route behind the participants to ensure that everyone is following the correct path.
Finish Line Volunteers: Assist at our post tour celebration, as well help put the Essex Region Conservation Bike Tour to bed!
