Detroit River Binational Cleanup: Sandwich Locations – EVENT CAPACITY FILLED

Please note, due to an overwhelming interest from the community we have reached our event capacity for both Detroit River watershed cleanups on April 9th 2022! Ticket sales have ended and we thank all of the volunteers who are going to attend that day. See you soon!

On April 9 2022, Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) and the Detroit River Canadian Cleanup (DRCC) will work with volunteers to remove accumulated debris and litter at McKee Park, along Russell Street and at Queen’s Dock in Sandwich. This cleanup is part of the larger series of Earth Month events taking place through the Detroit River Coalition.

Participants will meet at 10 am at Queen’s Dock Park at the end of Mill Street for on-site check in and instructions. Pre-registration through Eventbrite is required. Event will take place rain or shine, and will be delayed because of severe weather only. Safety precautions such as masking are encouraged.

We will be set up in Queen’s Dock Park conducting onsite registration beginning at 10 am. Once you check in and provide us with your waiver and photo consent form, or fill out at the table. Download the waiver here. You can then access cleaning supplies and begin the cleanup.

There is parking along Russell Street. Please do not park in the cul de sac at the end of Mill Street by the HMCS Hunter Building.

There are no on-site public washrooms available.

Dress for the weather. Early April can bring a range of weather scenarios. The event will be cancelled if severe weather occurs, but will move forward in the rain. Cancellation notifications will go out the morning of the event through Eventbrite registration contacts.

Funding for the Sandwich Litter Cleanup has been provided by the Gordie Howe International Bridge Community Benefits Plan.
